Visual Poetry: A Creative Guide for Making Engaging Digital Photographs.
If you are interested in photography, at all, this book will absolutely ROCK your creative world.
Chris Orwig will invigorate and challenge your creative spirit to the core!
I found my copy while browsing Barnes N Noble a couple months ago and have been meaning to share it with you ever since!
WARNING: do not sit down with this book unless you have at least one pack of sticky notes!
{TEASERS}
“The point of creative photography is that we all get to choose our own way.” [page 57]
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
“And finding photographs depends on realizing how distinct we actually are. If you an tap into what makes you different, what sets you apart, you can begin to find photographs that will be completely your own.” [page 212]
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
“People will tell you it is all about capturing the essence. I say capture the essence of what captivates you most.” [page 186]
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
“…pursue your vision again and again. In a sense, you will need to let yourself go and become a beginner with each frame you take.” [page 53]
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
“Don’t examine what type of photography sells. Rather, ask yourself what makes you come alive.” [page 259]
Vintage
Posted on February 2, 2010
I’m feeling vintage today. [aka old.]
My first born son turned 14 last week. 14. Fourteen.
14 amazing years with this amazing young man.
We dined on pizza and icecream cake. He opened 14 little gift boxes.
That night, with tears of joy and sadness, I poured over his old photo albums and scrapbooks.
I miss that little boy. I miss that baby. I love the young man he has become.
Thank you for making this world a better place my son.
”I love you all the way to GOD and back.”
Nonsense

Nonsense [Extravagant foolishness or frivolity]
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.
Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living; it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.
Which is what I do.
And that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.

Where is the chocolate?

Here’s a lovely little way to recycle chocolate heart boxes…
Serve up a little pre- Valentine’s Day lunch for two!
Mini chocolate boxes are prefect for pb&js. Big boxes could hold any number of nibblies.

I took the big boys to see the Harlem Globe Trotters last night.
I loved their dunks and their crazy ball handling skills.
The humor was good, but the talent was spectacular!
And of course the boys suckered me into getting an official BALL—-
Uniquely YOU!

I loved this snippet from the book {Joy Breaks: 90 Devotions to Celebrate, Simplify and Add Laughter to Your Life}:
“There is nobody else exactly like us, and there never will be. Each of us is His special creation and is
alive for a distinctive purpose. Because of this, the person we are, and the contribution we make by
being that very person, are vitally important to God.”
Kiddie Laundry Mat
Posted on January 17, 2010
Question: Can laundry be fun?
Answer: Yes, yes it can! BUT only if you are a kid!!!
Wash. Dry. Fold. Repeat.
Ya, it’s so much more fun when you PRETENDING!
This was Emerson’s santa gift!
Sadly, this poor laundry mat will soon be closing shop… cardboard can only last so long (not long at all in our house!)… but it was fun while it lasted.
